On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court ruled on one of the most important issues in American History: same-sex marriage. On a close historic 5-4 vote, the majority upheld its constitutionality. Justice Anthony Kennedy, who wrote the majority opinion, closed the landmark decision with this beautiful passage:
M2Social is at once overwhelmed and overjoyed with this decision, sharing the happiness of our friends, family, and colleagues who are part of the LGBT community in the United States and around the world. And while much remains to be done before full gender inclusiveness is realized, this represents a significant step forward. In America at least, all kinds of love can now be enshrined with the vows of marriage.
We hope that the SCOTUS decision will be respected in other jurisdictions as well, including ours. There's too much bigotry and discrimination in the world, far too many artificial reasons to divide and separate people, and make people who may be different from ourselves feel like they are somehow worth less because of these differences. This decision is an important move forward towards a world where diversity is embraced and where, in all instances, #lovewins.
We love that our social network monitors came to life in vibrant color, as millions around the world shared in an outpouring of love and support when the news broke. We encourage everyone to continue to talk about, share, retweet, and repost stories about this victory of love.
This is one campaign everyone should get behind.
